I left my homeland just over 43 years ago. I wasn't exiled. Yet, I never perceived myself as emigrating. a I now accept my reality. That is, I have been and still am on a pilgrimage. Thanks, Mr Gerrans.

I think the electricity is the key thing. Once people have access to that — and especially mobile communications (internet) — their culture is done. But, as Ellul's work indicates, those who do not embrace "technique" will be destroyed by those who do; and those who do embrace it will be destroyed by "technique" itself.
